Thematic Areas

At SIDEC, we work to address the social, economic, environmental, health, and governance challenges that affect communities and limit inclusive development. Our work is rooted in the belief that communities thrive when people are empowered to participate, institutions are accountable, and everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity. Our interventions span Tax Justice & Accountability, Climate Action & Resilience, Democratic Governance & Electoral Participation, Gender Equality & Prevention of Gender-Based Violence, and Maternal & Child Health. Across these areas, we work with communities, government institutions, civil society organisations, and development partners to promote meaningful change. Through advocacy, research, community engagement, capacity building, and evidence-based action, we amplify citizens’ voices and support solutions that respond to their needs. Together, we are working towards a society that is more just, inclusive, accountable, and resilient.

We promote gender equality and work with communities and stakeholders to prevent gender-based violence, challenge harmful norms, and create safer, more inclusive communities.>

We work to improve access to quality maternal and child healthcare through community engagement, accountability, and advocacy for responsive health systems.>

Tax Justice & Accountability

We promote fair and accountable taxation by empowering citizens, strengthening public participation, and advocating for transparency in the management of public resources.>

Climate Action & Resilience

We promote climate action, environmental sustainability, and resilient communities through awareness, advocacy, and evidence-based interventions.>

Democratic Governance & Electoral Participation

We promote democratic governance and meaningful citizen participation through election observation, voter education, civic sensitisation, and electoral advocacy.>
